Author's Biography

Discworld is a series of satirical fantasy novels written by English author Sir Terry Pratchett. Pratchett was born on April 28, 1948, in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England. He displayed an early interest in writing and published his first story at the age of thirteen. Pratchett's writing career took off with the publication of The Carpet People in 1971, but it was the release of The Colour of Magic, the first novel in the Discworld series, in 1983 that cemented his place in the literary world.

Pratchett's Discworld series is renowned for its wit, humor, and insightful commentary on the human condition, all set in a fantastical universe. The series spans over 40 books, each exploring different themes and featuring a diverse cast of characters. Pratchett's writing is characterized by his sharp wit, clever wordplay, and satirical take on various aspects of society, politics, and culture.

Throughout his career, Pratchett received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to literature, including being appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1998 and later being knighted in 2009 for services to literature.
